Prof. Nadezhda Gaponenko
Prof. Nadezhda Gaponenko is Head of Department at the Institute for the Study of Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences. She has a fast experience in future studies and policy development for government, international organizations, and private sector. She defended her PhD and post-doctoral paper in the field of future studies and bridging of foresight with policy development. Nadezhda Gaponenko was among the first, who started to use chaos and complexity theory in future studies and policy development, and she developed the theoretical foundation for the foresight and the assessment of sectoral innovation systems, based on conclusions of the theory of evolution, and chaos&complexity theories.
Prof. Gaponenko is the author of 15 monographs and over 100 articles published in Russian, English and German languages, the author of two foresight methods (Delphi-Dialogue and Strategic Scenarios). She has been the coordinator or contributed to about 100 projects carried out for the governments, intergovernmental and UN organizations (UNEP Global Environmental Outlook, OECD, UNESCO, UN Water Assessment Program, European Commission, European Environmental Agency, UN University).
She was a member of advisory board of the following scientific journals: Technological Forecasting and Social Changes and Evolution. Since 1996, she is a member of Planning Committee and a director of the Russian node of the Millennium Project.
