Manabe Keiko, former Millennium Project Intern in Washington, D.C.
After introductions Dr. Hamada reported on a meeting he and Dr. Norio Yamamoto and Mr. Kikujiro Namba had with the UNU Rector about the Millennium Project, the Tokyo Node, and the UNU. The meeting helped improve this relationship. The UNU is now a sponsor of the Millennium Project.
Jerry Glenn gave an update noting that Future Survey selected the 1999 State of the Future among top four books on global change. We also discussed the February Planning Committee Meeting and the new section of the Project's web site called the "Futures Matrix" as preliminary way to organize futures research.
Then a general discussion followed about what policy makers should be
interviewed from Japan for the next State of the Future. Although Dr. Mizuta
Kazuo was unable to attend the meeting, he met with Jerry Glenn during
the UNU Millennium Conference and has agreed to conduct one or two policy
maker interviews in the Kyoto area. It was agreed that everyone would think
about who might be interviewed and then meet with Dr. Yamamoto to coordinate
the interviews and follow up this meeting.
