Date of launch: 2011

The Romanian Node was set up by Adrian Pop, Professor of International Relations, who acted as its first Chair (2011-2023) and then Co-Chair (2023-2025). Between 2011 and 2025 the institution hosting the Chair was the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest.

Objectives: Foresight activities primarily related to social sciences and economics.

  • Adrian Pop was a plenary speaker and Sabina Chiaburu a speaker at the Discovery of Future in the Social and Human Sciences conference held at the University of Trento, Department of Sociology and Social Research, 6-8 June 2024.
  • Adrian Pop. Anticipatory Governance, Anticipatory Innovation Governance, and International Relations Responses to Complexity. Paper presented at the Anticipation Governance 2025 conference, University of Trento, Italy, 8-10 May 2025.
  • Adrian Pop has participated in the Responsible Futures workshops led by Ted Fuller, Emeritus Professor and UNESCO Chair on Responsible Foresight for Sustainable Development at the University of Lincoln, UK, and contributed a chapter on The Responsibility to Anticipate Systemic Change in the Cold War Context for an edited first book resulting from these workshops.
  • Adrian Pop taught a course on Strategic Foresight for Social Sciences: Concepts, Methods and Case Studies for Ph.D. students at his home university in Bucharest.
