The Millennium Project held its 2025 Planning Committee Meeting in Dubai on November 17, centering on the global governance of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and the release of the State of the Future 20.0. Significant milestones included high-level AGI briefings for the UN General Assembly’s Council of Presidents and the expansion of Phase 3 AGI studies into five alternative 2050 scenarios. The meeting, chaired by Jerome C. Glenn and Ibon Zugasti, showcased reports from over 20 international nodes—including China, Bulgaria, Italy, and Mexico—demonstrating the project’s decentralized influence in shaping global foresight research and policy engagement across nine languages.
Operationally, the Project is pivoting toward a modernized digital infrastructure with the launch of the Millennium Project Commons on Discourse and Pol.is, fostering participatory foresight through cross-cultural data analysis. Key initiatives for 2026 include the update of the Futures Research Methodology (FRM 4.0) to integrate AI-driven methods and the coordination of the 12th World Futures Day. By transitioning communication strategies toward high-engagement platforms like LinkedIn and evaluating new emerging networks, The Millennium Project continues to lead international efforts in addressing the 15 Global Challenges and the urgent considerations of the AGI transition.
