A new publication titled “Exploring Socio-Technical Futures of Work – A Narrative-Based Foresight Approach“, by Mara Di Berardo (Italy Node Co-Chair), Sirkka Heinonen (Helsinki Node Co-Chair), Amos Taylor, Riku Viitamäki, and Veli Virmajoki, presents the findings of the Millennium Project Special Session held at the Futures of Technologies Conference 2025 in Turku, Finland, on 11 June 2025 (FFRC eBooks 4/2025).

The session was part of the ongoing FFRC research project T-winning Spaces 2035, led by Aalto University with partners University of Turku and University of Tampere, and funded by the European Union NextGenerationEU and the Research Council of Finland. It explored the futures of work, workspaces, and emerging paradigms in how we work.
Organized in collaboration with the University of Turku, Aalto University, the Millennium Project, and the Finnish Society for Futures Studies, the session took the form of an interactive Futures Clinique. Participants engaged with four radical narratives developed in the T-winning Spaces 2035 project, using a modified Futures Wheel to ideate solutions that would make these scenarios more desirable.
The report highlights technological innovations, well-being–centric solutions, and social processes designed to help the personas of the narratives navigate challenges in future work environments. It offers valuable insights for students, researchers, and practitioners interested in participatory foresight, socio-technical innovation, and the future of work.
