The Millennium Project and Mexico Node present El Estado del Futuro 20.0 at the Monterrey International Book Fair

At the prestigious Monterrey International Book Fair, two decisive meetings gathered global foresight experts to examine how humanity envisions, interprets, and shapes alternative futures.

The event marked the official presentation of El Estado del Futuro 20.0, the Spanish translation of The Millennium Project’s flagship report State of the Future 20.0 also available in Italian and Arabic. The presentation invited attendees to reflect on humanity’s greatest challenges and the systemic transformations required to build a sustainable future, serving as a vital reminder to question current certainties in an ever-changing world.

In parallel, the panel Futures Studies at Tec: 40 Years Transforming Realities celebrated four decades of foresight leadership at Tecnológico de Monterrey, the leading university that hosts the Mexico Node of The Millennium Project. The discussion featured key leaders from the network, including Guillermo Gándara (Co-Chair of the Mexico Node and President of RIBER) and Yadira Ornelas (Co-Chair of the Mexico Node), alongside David Güemes and Fabiola Mármol.

Together, the panelists examined the evolution of futures thinking at Tec de Monterrey and highlighted how networks like RIBER connect global vision with local transformation capabilities. As the sessions emphasized, the future is not a predetermined destination, but an open horizon of possibilities that must be actively constructed starting today.
