We are disgusting and barbaric! What will we disgust our descendants with?

4CF The Futures Literacy Company, Poland Node of The Millennium Project, in cooperation with the Polish Society for Futures Studies, has undertaken an effort to identify things that we can potentially disgust our descendants with. The researchers asked futurists from around the world for their ideas, which they then grouped and processed, in order to come up with a cleaned up list of 93 potential contemporary “barbasisms”.

Now, they are looking for help in identifying the most surprising, most eye-opening contemporary “barbarisms”. To put it in other words, they are not looking for the already-rather-obvious things with which we’ll quite probably disgust our descendants. Rather, they are looking for the eye-opening ones – ideas which make you look at our world differently, which make you realise something new about our contemporary ways.

So, for each of the ideas, please consider How much of a revelation is it to you that [an item] might be considered disgusting by our descendants? You’ll be asked to rate this on a scale from 0 to 5, where 0 corresponds to “not a surprise at all OR disagreement with the notion” and 5 represents “a total eye-opener”.
