After a vibrant discussion on the health of our European democracy, the next FEN Exchange on the Futures Glossary project is just around the corner on 7th of May, 15:00 – 16:00 CEST.
Many crucial terms are used by futurists. Do we have a shared understanding of them in English? Do we use the most suitable translations in our local languages? Stefan Bergheim, Mariagrazia Berardi, and Chloé Momas will facilitate an interactive session focused on these questions and share how they are addressing them in a multilingual Futures Glossary project.
The Futures Glossary is a multilingual collaborative collection of key terms frequently used in the futures field. The project emerged from a collective intelligence process involving more than twenty practitioners, scholars, and researchers from diverse disciplinary traditions and cultural contexts. The glossary’s purpose is to make visible the similarities and differences in meaning that arise when futures-related concepts move across languages, cultures, and practices.
To enrich the discussion, we also highlight the “FUTURES 2.0 — World Foresight Encyclopedic Dictionary” published by The Millennium Project (edited by Jerome Glenn, Ted Gordon, and Concepcion Olavarrieta). This comprehensive resource, featuring over 1,200 terms and methods, offers a global perspective that complements the multilingual focus of our upcoming exchange.
FEN Exchanges are designed as an open, informal space for members to connect, share updates, and explore key topics within the European context, using futures and foresight methods—and related approaches—as conversation enablers. The emphasis is on dialogue, connection, and learning, with no formal preparation required.
