Within he framework of World Futures Day on March 1, 2024, the Tecnológico de Monterrey institute, through his constellation of Futurists, gave the Diamond Shaped Crystal Recognition to Concepción Olavarrieta Rodríguez, Mexico Node Chair and founder, as a tribute to her invaluable professional career in foresight and the construction of Futures in México and the world.
During the ceremony in Mexico City with many colleagues and friends, a video tribute to Concepción Olavarrieta was displayed and included messages from Chairs and experts of the Millennium Project Nodes.
What a pleasure to see you! I feel very excited. I thank everyone who has made my 21 years as a futurist possible. Thank you very much, Xóchitl, Yadira, Guillermo, Saúl and the futurists at Tec de Monterrey for this special day.
Concepción Olavarrieta Rodriguez
To my friend Julio Millán, for introducing me to the world of foresight. To Jerome Glenn and Theodore Gordon, founders of the Millennium Project, for teaching me to think and observe everything that happens in 360 degrees, the consequences it implies and how to build futures. To Guillermo Gándara, for believing in my dreams and working hard for 9 years for our books FUTUROS MEXICO towards 2050 and LATIN AMERICA 2050. To Yadira Ornelas and Xóchitl Arias for supporting the participation of the best futurists in the world, next September, in the inauguration of their new FLAGSHIP BUILDING OF THE INNOVATION DISTRICT in Monterrey. Thanks to my children Lorena, Maite and Cristian for teaching me how to be a mother; to Luisa, Javier, Paul and Rafael for teaching me how to be a mother-in-law; to Javier, Antonio, Matías and Sebastián for teaching me how to be a grandmother and to Santiago, for awakening in me the wonderful experience of great-grandmother’s love. Thanks to my dear brothers and cousins, some of them present here, for always being supportive and being with me. My maternal grandmother, who you were already told lived here, told us that we were direct descendants of Netzahualcóyotl: the great lord of Texcoco, the great innovative ruler and the great poet king who wrote:
I LOVE THE SINGING OF THE ZENTZONTLE, BIRD OF FOUR HUNDRED VOICES, I LOVE THE COLOR OF JADE AND THE ENERVING PERFUME OF FLOWERS, BUT MORE I LOVE MY BROTHER THE MAN, and I add, and I LOVE ALL OF YOU.
Thank you.
