The Foresight Europe Network (FEN) invites to participate in the next FEN Exchange session on Thursday, 11th December at 16:00 CET. This monthly thematic meeting will focus on “Emerging Technologies”, exploring how innovations—from AI and deep tech to digital commons and smart cities—are reshaping Europe’s socio-economic and ethical landscape. FEN member Paul Graham Raven, science fiction writer, researcher and infrastructure enthusiast, will be co-hosting the session, give a provoking introduction, and act as a ‘discussion catalyst’ to guide the conversation. Participants will discuss shifts in work, wellbeing, governance, and other areas impacted by technological transformation.
FEN Exchanges are designed as open spaces for members to connect, share updates, and explore key topics within the European context, using futures and foresight methods—and related approaches—as conversation enablers. Each session lasts one hour and emphasizes connection, learning, and informal exchange without requiring formal preparation. These sessions take place every second Thursday of the month at 16:00 CET.
The upcoming December session follows the successful inaugural FEN Exchange on 13 November, which addressed “Security, War, & Geopolitics: Resilience and Peace Futures for Europe in an Era of Multiple Threats”. This first session emerged from the themes most frequently mentioned during the September brainstorming with members, setting the stage for an ongoing dialogue around the futures of Europe.
FEN members are encouraged to join the discussion, share their perspectives, and collectively sense the opportunities and challenges posed by emerging technologies across the continent.
After registration, Zoom will offer the option to add all sessions to your calendar.
