The Millennium Project at the UN: AI Governance & Global Reports

The Millennium Project is maintaining an active presence in New York between September 18–25, 2026 for high-level, UN-related meetings focusing on artificial intelligence governance, global geopolitics, and future steering initiatives. Following the recent publication of the volume Future AI–AGI: Issues, Governance, Scenarios edited by Jerome C. Glenn together with The Millennium Project AGI Team, the organization’s engagement on international platforms is intensifying even further.

On September 19, Millennium Project CEO Jerome Glenn, alongside Stuart Russell and Mariana Todorova (Bulgaria Node Chiar) will meet with the Council of Presidents of the UN General Assembly to discuss the important report titled Governance of the transition towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI): Urgent Considerations for the UN General Assembly released by the High-Level AGI Expert Panel makes recommendations for the United Nations. This document, was compiled by Glenn and other experts and is available in available in multiple languages.

This high-level institutional focus on emerging technologies is further mirrored across the broader UN architecture, as reflected in the recent UN Security Council report titled Artificial Intelligence, Geopolitics, and the UN Security Council. Building on these milestones, Jerome Glenn will also speak at the XXXVII High-Level Meeting side event of the UN General Assembly focused on “Rebuilding Trust, Cooperation and Global Stability for a Shared Future” held at the Harvard Club of New York). He will participate on September 24, 2026 (11:00–12:00), in Panel 6: AI, Digital Sovereignty and Future of Global Governance.

Finally, on the internal research front, the draft of the new AGI Social Coherence RTD study has been officially released for review by the steering committee, encouraging members to identify prospective participants for upcoming phases.
