The Red Iberoamericana de Prospectiva (RIBER), regional network of The Millennium Project, in collaboration with the Faculty of Government at the University of Chile, will host the Congreso de Futuros RIBER | Chile 2026 on October 7 and 8, 2026.
Taking place at the VM20 Complex of the University of Chile in Santiago, the congress aims to serve as a meeting point for associated members and the general community to share experiences and research in futures exploration for Ibero-America, enrich their knowledge, and foster professional and personal collaborations. In this edition, participants will also be reflecting on Chile 2050 and the Governance of the Future: Foresight, Democracy, Public Policy, and Social Transformation in Latin America, with the intention that the RIBER | Chile 2026 Futures Congress establishes itself as a local and international forum for intergenerational and cross-sector dialogue on current and future challenges for Ibero-America and Chile, as well as their possibilities and opportunities to build our desired futures toward 2050.
The scientific committee of the conference includes Dra. Yiem Aurora Ataucusi Ataucusi (Perú), Dr. Guillermo Gándara Fierro (RIBER President and Co-Chair of the México Node), Dra. Krisztina Eva Lengyel Almos (México), Dr. Juan Carlos Mora Montero (Costa Rica), Dra. Beatriz Plata Martínez (Co-Chair of the Argentina Node), and Dr. Jordi Serra del Pino (España)
Discussions and presentations will span eight core thematic areas, covering anticipatory governance, public ethics, and democracy; global scenarios, geopolitics, and international studies; sustainability, climate change, water, and biodiversity; social transformation, cities, territories, and migration; artificial intelligence, technology, and energy; methodologies for futures exploration; educational innovation in higher education; and insecurity and organized crime. In addition to the main conference sessions, two specialized paid workshops will be held on October 9, featuring a Scenario Laboratory on anticipatory intelligence led by Jordi Serra and a strategic leadership workshop on governing 2050 led by Edgar Varela.
